Patricia Polacco Links

Hi everyone!

If you look under In Our Class, I have posted the five stories we have read so far in our Author Study. Please feel free to read them with your child! We will wrap up Immersion on Monday, and begin Generating Ideas on Tuesday.

Thanks so much!

IMPORTANT! Homework for this week, 3/5 to 3/9

Due to the two snow days, Mrs. Kallert and I are not collecting the homework this week. Instead, we will collect and check both logs next week. Please feel free to complete the Homework Log from 3/5 to 3/9 next week. So...
Homework Check for logs distributed on 3/5 and 3/12 will be checked on Friday, 3/16.
Thanks for your understanding! Have a great day!

Library Books - IMPORTANT!

Hi Homeroom Parents!

Remember when we took our trip to the library two weeks ago?  (Yep, it's been two weeks!) Our books are due tomorrow. If you bring back the book to school, Ms. Holly will come and pick it up so you don't have to travel to the library. Also, you can either e-mail me or call the library if you wish to renew the book.

Thank you!

So many announcements!

Hi Parents! A few things for you today...

1. My homeroom is taking a field trip to the library tomorrow. Please ensure the permission slip is signed and returned! If I do not have the permission slip, your child cannot attend. I have posted an online copy of the permission slip somewhere below this post.

Project Update

Hi everyone!

I'm sure you've heard that our writing assignment is due this week. I am extending the deadline until Monday, and also giving students the option of completing their publishing extras at home - this is:

1. Fancy Title Page
2. 'About the Author' page (themselves)
3. Dedication Page

I am still offering extra time on Monday, if a student would like to come in and work on their project. Just a reminder- from here on forward, my extra time is Tuesdays and Wednesday by appointment. Extra help always starts at 7:45am.

Thanks so much, and have a great weekend!
Please note - I am not connected to school email on the weekends, so any questions you may have, I will be sure to address them first thing on Monday morning.

For my homeroom (108) - Library Field Trip

This post is just for my homeroom - Room 108!

We will be taking a trip to the Weehawken Public Library next week. The trip takes place on Thursday, Feb 15th, and will be from 9AM to 11AM. Students will be able to check out books. Also, if your child does not have a library card, I have given them an application to apply for a juvenile membership. As a bonus - if your child has an overdue library book, the Weehawken Library will accept it on the day of the trip with NO LATE FEE!

Permission slips have been sent home! Please return them ASAP, as students will not be able to go on the trip without them. I have also attached the form to this post.

Please email me with any questions or concerns! Have a great night!

Final Drafts

We are in the final stages of our non-fiction writing piece!

If you would like your child to have a little extra time to work on their project, you can schedule an appointment with me via e-mail. Just e-mail to confirm what days you would you like to come in. Usually, my extra help days are Wednesday and Thursday, but in light of the project, I will let students come in Tuesday through Friday. Extra help time starts at 7:45 and finishes up around 8:05. Don't forget to e-mail me!
