One More Extra Help for This Week

Hi Class Parents!
 
I am adding one more extra help period for this week. Extra Help will be available to those who need to finish their Author Study Project tomorrow from 7:45 to 8:10. Please confer with your child to see if they need to finish their projects! We will not be working on the projects during any more of of our class periods.

Extra Help For Finishing Author Study Project

Hello Parents!
 
This is a reminder that special Extra Help to finish our Author Study project begins tomorrow. If your child is finished with the project, s/he does not need to attend. Extra help will be from 7:45 to 8:10ish on Monday 4/30, Tuesday 5/1, and Wednesday 5/2.

Project Due Tomorrow

Hi all! This is just a friendly reminder that our project for Writer's Workshop is due tomorrow.
 
Students were advised and instructed to finish Illustrations and Publishing Extras at home (more details about this can be found in a post below). Paper was provided for students that needed it! Also, just as a reminder, there is NO EXTRA HELP tomorrow.

Earth Week Theme Line Up

Hi parents! It's Earth Week! Please see below for the coordinating color schedule. On the selected days, please wear:
Monday 4/23: Brown shirts to represent for dirt and soil
Tuesday 4/24: Blue shirts to represent air quality and oceans
Wednesday 4/25: Yellow shirts to represent solar power and the sun
Thurs 4/26: Green shirts to represent plants and trees
Friday 4/27: Tye Dye shirts to represent the interconnectedness of humans, animals, plants, and mother nature!

Illustrations and Publishing Extras

Hi parents! As of today, students are allowed to complete their drawings for their Author Study Project. This includes at least five pictures to match up with the story and Publishing Extras which are:
A Fancy Title Page
About the Author (the student who wrote the story)
Dedication - Someone special who the book is in honor of

Change in Bus Procedure for Busses 1, 3, and 7

Hi parents - Starting today, there is a major change coming to the line-up procedures for busses 1, 3, and 7. This change is for the safety of the students and will take place at DWS. Please review this with your child. This note was sent home on Monday, but I am putting this here for your reference. Thanks very much!

Extra Help for Author Study

Extra Help is opening up on Wednesday 4/18 and Thursday 4/19 so students can finish Author Study. It begins at 7:45. Please send me an email so that I know your child has permission to attend! Thanks so much.

DRA Book Lists

Hi Parents!
 
Attached is a list provided by the Weehawken Public Library regarding DRA book levels. Use this a guide to take books out for your child. Remember - your child is not limited to their DRA level. The DRA level is a guideline and a range, so your child may enjoy a book that is a level or two above what they are tested.

REPORT CARDS!

Hi parents - Report Cards and Assessment folders were sent home today. Please review the information and sign each envelope and return it to school.

Spring Break Reading Challenge

Hi parents - Due to the short week, personal vacations, and overall springtime merriment, there is no official Homework Log for this week. However, Mrs. Kallert and I have handed out a Spring Reading Challenge with 20 or so activities that your child can do through our return to school. This is not 'official' homework, but rather meant to be used for extra practice and enrichment.
 
Students were each given a hard copy, but here is an electronic copy for your reference!
