Weehawken high school was recently recognized with three honors from the AP program first the Weehawken Township School District was recently selected by the College Board to implement AP Capstone  an Innovative high school diploma program that allows students develop the skills that matter most for their future College Success research collaboration and communication the AP caps program includes a two-course sequence AP seminar and AP research Weehawken High School will start the AP Capstone Pro in the fall of 2016 and now to Logan with the second honor and recognition is that Weehawken has been named to the AP District honor roll for the 2014-2015 school year the honor roll is a list of 425 across the u.s. and Canada being honored for increasing access to AP courses latest maintaining fishing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams which of these goals indicates that these districts are successful identifying motivated academically prepare students are couch so what kind of homework do you guys time for PCP program depends on which subject you're taking but the homework is rigorous they make sure that you really coursework and understand what you're doing so that come the AP test you really feel prepared and feel comfortable so you have done that yes are you well thank you so much how do you feel today well AP program is very rigorous but I'm very happy because we get to learn more things then as if like a regular classical more depth and you definitely get educated on new things every single day very proud this is a great school and a year spring Musical  Mr spring musical was a little we sat down with Weehawken High School Theatre instructor Miss McHugh and the Little Mermaid herself Ali Tierney to talk about this year play  how being the lead like how did being a lead in the play  differ from like all the other roles you had well all your rules I had the most amount of lines that has like five lines but being the lead I had was basically in every single scene so I had a lot more to memorize and it was not just practicing at practice and that's it I had to practice on my own time as well so it's a lot more on how much more work to do you think you put in this year winter break was right after that after we got our scripts we had winter break and I was studying my life all throw winter break how was it having your sister in real life play your sister in the play now let's play my older sister in the show what's my younger sister parents say when you told them you were the lead when I started screaming and I was the steam Studio Elizabeth McFarland come on so the studio has formally the industrial arts program and they cleaned it all out and fixed it up we painted coming to Great Whites to do when kids are creating a lot of interesting artworks  Marine so this year we got two new Potter's wheels and then work really nice the really strong and we had an artist come into demonstrate and he made this lovely bowl and then we blazed it I'll show you the killing later this is Clay but you spin anime cylindrical forms and then it hardens and you fire at once and then you take it out then you glaze it and you put on these nice colors and the glaze turns into glass can you fire it again  save the tables from the shop with a really industrial it's really nice and big so the kids can get turn pieces of artwork and work on those  we got a smart boy this year which is near me nice for teaching visual aids in art news lot of pictures and this is Beautiful cuz I could just turn on and find pleather of information I need on the internet this way the kids are storing on their artwork  you could see we got a lot of things happening  we're doing self-portraits for your corporate an animal that represents your personality they're working in watercolor pencils liquid watercolors and wash is it coming out really beautiful  headache it's even bigger in scale so we can put them on our tables  this area what's the sewing area fashion design costume design the kids had decorated all the old stools that we repurposed from the shop put some artistic messages and are we talking symbols so we're going to sell we're going to start selling in fashion 2 probably towards Christmas time or the holidays  so in the fashion design cabinet we do a lot of things like play high neck t-shirts screen printing t-shirts we do hand painting t-shirts we have really nice design Marcus that we always make a sketch before we start the girls are really good at sketching out what they want we're also doing a theater arts program trim so I have some really ornamental dresses here in these are from previous please which I've made for none show girls from the Annie play and then for the theater arts program we're making a props for in the drama for the full drama which is snow angel which is going to be a really cool play that we've never done a play with no singing before Sports on a different prop  computer lab where the students in common do artistic search or they can write papers I am currently doing I'm solarfast t-shirts which is when you take an egg give off the computer and then you put it on a t-shirt you put the solvent on and then you put it in the Sun so it's like solar printing on a T-shirt and it stays even after you turn on Flashlight Free app five computers that the kids can use to do research they're doing presentation board so they'll print things out hey beautiful little T kennels on a boy  this is the painting area where the kids can find any sorts paints they want kryllyk watercolors tempera wash with watercolors on that stuff  girl reading area where we have books about artists so I know books are like dinosaurs now but I think when the kids can actually feel  play a picture get more out of it than just looking at it online because they're so used to just staring at a screen all the time  anomaly melting glass which I want to get into later in the year this is a still life after one of the students at is going drawings to get into art school for her portfolio these are all the props for the play which really cool we have on the scene in a community there's so willing to donate and help and come talk so we're going to have a muralist come talk at the end of this like spring the end of the school year cuz I'm going to put them in somewhere so if anybody's interested come see me  so this is a kiln I started it last night and it went up to 2000 degrees now it's up to 220 degrees right now  so you put the play that is just
