Mr. Colletta

About me

My name's Richard Colletta, and I am the fourth grade Special Education Teacher for Social Studies, Science, Reading, and Math. I share a homeroom with Mrs. Naszimento. This is my first-year teaching at TRS. I have a master's in education degree from Wagner College with a dual certification in General Education, and Special Education. After graduating Wagner College, I worked for one year as a teaching assistant for a fourth-grade classroom. For the past four years I was a classroom teacher in a 6:1:1 setting for students with Autism. I like to focus on the 5e's for teaching and learning. Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend and Evaluate. I believe that focusing on these 5 stages of teaching can help students develop and build upon their academic skills in multiple subject areas. I am married with two kids, and we have one cat. My son is five years old, and just started Kindergarten this year. My daughter just started Prek3 this year and will be turning three in October of this year. In my spare time I like to listen to music, watch sports, travel, and spend time with my family.
