Hola todos! Hi everyone!
Welcome to Spanish class! I am the new Spanish teacher at Theodore Roosevelt School and could not be more excited to meet you and your child! Not only am I excited about your child learning Spanish, but I'm excited to learn from your child, as I believe that every child is special, unique and a critical component to the learning process. Learning should be a two way process,as children have so much to contribute and are too rich of a resource not to use!
Did you know that with some 405 million speakers, Spanish is the second most commonly spoken language in the world? These are just a few of the amazing statistics and facts about this beautiful language that your child will learn, start speaking, or even improve if he/she is already familiar with the language. With practice, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn, your child can start their journey on becoming bilingual or simply more proficient in the Spanish language if already familiar. How exciting!
In Spanish class, we will be learning the Spanish language and culture through the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice all of these skills. I will also be incorporating technology such as our newest language program, Middlebury, and most importantly, your child's interests and intelligences. Lastly, I believe in treating every child fairly, making sure that every child gets access to the same learning opportunities.
I wish your child a great and successful academic year!
