Welcome

Welcome…

Hello everyone! My name is Michcella Tiscornia, and I will be teaching 3rd Grade to your child this year!

I started my career at Roosevelt by substituting. After a few months, I was offered a maternity leave position at TRS. Four years later, I am still here! J

It’s an honor and a privilege to teach your child. I come from a long line of teachers – my mother and father included – so I understand the importance of a solid education.

I believe all children have a right to be taught. I believe all children should learn and have fun, too. In the classroom, I love to try new things and challenge myself to make learning a unique experience.

I am always open to your thoughts and concerns, so please do not hesitate to e-mail me at mtiscorn@weehawkenschools.net.

Let’s have an amazing year together!

Happy Summer!

 Hello Class Parents!

This is my last official post to you as your child's teacher. Where did the last 10 months go?!?

It has been a pleasure teaching each and every one of your children. I hope they found my classroom to be engaging and educative, and their year to be progressive and successful.

I have to take a moment to thank you all for the extremely generous and special gift to Sojo Spa. Talk about a thoughtful present! I will be sure to use it in good health over the summer, so that I may return in September, refreshed and ready to go.

This particular class is special for me, as they are my last 'full' class. Next year, I will still be in 3rd Grade, but I will be teaching Writing to all incoming 3rd Graders. If you find yourself in the area, please be sure to stop by the Pink Room to say hello!

Wherever your child may go, I will always be their 3rd Grade Teacher!

Please have an enjoyable, safe, happy, sunny, ice-cream filled summer!
With All My Love,
Miss Tiscornia

Notices for End of Year

Hi Class Parents!

Today, the health and physical forms for NEXT year were given to your child. When he/she goes for a physical in the summer, they must use that form.

Also, lunch balances and the Award Ceremony notices were sent out. Please review them! Lunch balances must be settled by the end of the year in order to get your child's report card.

Let me know if you have any questions!
Have a great weekend!

Liberty Science Center Trip!

Hello Class Parents -

Our end-of-year field trip is tomorrow! Please review the following notes for a successful, fun trip. If you have any questions, please e-mail me and I will get back to you tomorrow morning.
Miss Tiscornia

1.The trip will take place tomorrow, June 14th. The buses will leave promptly at 9:00am. If you are chaperone, please arrive at the school promptly at 8:45am. Upon departure, we will meet in the lobby by 1:15 and return to school by 2:00pm.

2.Dress your child in comfortable clothes, including sneakers. The museum is huge and we encourage students to explore as much as possible.

3. Please pack a LABELED brown bag lunch for your child. Glass bottles and cans are discouraged, as they are bulky to carry around. Pretty, pretty, pretty please - no lunch boxes! Your child will be carrying them around for their whole trip!

4. Your child may purchase souvenirs, but teachers and chaperones are not responsible for holding any money. If a child decides to purchase items, they must be responsible for their own money.Chaperones - PLEASE visit the gift shop before 1:00pm!!!!!

5. Have a game plan! There is a lot to do at LSC, and talk to your child about things they want to see. Knowing what to do means less time thinking and more time doing. All groups will receive a map and an example of current exhibits tomorrow morning.

THANK YOU!!!

Writing Portfolio Assignment and Tests

WRITING PORTFOLIO ASSIGNMENT

This week, our students will be responsible for a culminating writing assignment to put into their writing portfolio. One is due on Friday 6/9 and the other is due Friday, 6/16. It does not matter which one is handed in first, as long as one is handed to me this Friday and one is handed to me next Friday. If students want to complete both of that before the due date, that is fine, but they MUST come to me to put in their portfolios. I have provided paper for them. Each essay should be three paragraphs. Any questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

Tests for this Week

Spelling and Grammar test - Lesson 16

There will be NO READING test for lesson 16, but two 'cold read' quizzes during the week.

Bus forms!

Hi parents!

Transportation forms for next year were sent out. You must fill them out regardless if your child is taking a bus for next year. If you do not fill them out, your child will not be signed to a bus.

Please hand them in by Friday, June 2nd. Thanks very much, and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Tests and Carnival

Hi parents! A decent amount of tests were sent home today - some are from last marking period that got lost in the sauce. So sorry about that! In any event, it's the midpoint of MP4. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. The grades that we have thus far (for MP4) are also posted in PowerSchool. If you see a grade, but don't have the test, it may be in the 'tomorrow' pile. Also, some assessments were done online and won't have a paper copy.

Our Force and Motion Carnival is officially underway! If you have any other recycled materials, please send them in.

ALSO! Mrs. Sendul is asking for a donation of no-longer-used Legos. If you are hoarding Legos that your child no longer plays with, please send them in. Mrs. Sendul is planning on using them for a project NEXT year!

Thanks so much! Have a wonderful day!

PARCC Time!

The time of PARCC is upon us!
We have been preparing all year for this. I am confident that everything will go smoothly!
Please make sure that your child goes to bed early, and gets at least 8 hours of sleep. In addition, the morning should start with a healthy breakfast. Any questions you have, feel free to e-mail me. There is NO HOMEWORK this week!

PARCC and Teacher Appreciation Week

Hi Parents!

PARCC is quickly approaching us - next week, in fact! I will be sending home PARCC Practice packets for HW all week. Your child can complete these at their leisure.

In addition, it's Teacher Appreciation Week! The PTO is asking that students bring in flowers to show appreciation for their teacher.

Any questions, let me know. Have a good week!

Take Your Daughter and Son to Work Day
